Health Recommendations for Cats
By Dr. Craig Miller
Cats are very adept at hiding pain and sickness. Because of this, cats should be examined by a veterinarian at least once a year. When cats reach 10 years of age, they should be examined twice a year and have blood tests annually.
Signs that should prompt you to contact a veterinarian:
· - Increase in drinking or urination
· - Decrease in appetite
· - Dramatic weight loss or gain
· - Changes in attitude or grooming
· - Unable to urinate (emergency situation)
· - Activity changes (either increased or decreased)
· - Inappropriate urination or defecation (not in the litter box)
· - Increased vocalizing
