Dr. Miller volunteered at his local vet in his formative years, which helped confirm his passion for animals and medicine.  To help teenagers in our community with an express interest in pursuing veterinary medicine as a career, Dr. Miller has started a mentorship program at Loyal Companion Animal Care.  This mentorship program is limited to high school and older and includes two components:  

            1.       Direct Mentoring   

Students shadow Dr. Miller, watching and listening as he examines and treats animals.  They also follow other staff members to see the different roles of each team member.  Over time, students with aptitude are allowed to hold animals depending on safety measures.  Dr. Miller enjoys teaching motivating individuals.  Two high school students have finished mentorship programs this year so far.  Currently Dr. Miller is mentoring one high school student, two college students, and one vet school student.  Based on their schooling, Dr. Miller teaches and quizzes students to help them gain in-depth knowledge as they desire.  Minimum age requirement is 15 years-old.

2.       Volunteer Care Work 

To get hands on experience in the vet clinic, we accept qualified young adults to assist with feeding and cleaning after animals.  Minimum age requirement is 15 years-old.
