To improve the health and quality of life of every animal we touch.

Hi everyone,

I am Dr. Craig Miller, the owner of Loyal Companion Animal Care.  Taking this opportunity, I would like to share my background and my vision of the hospital with you.

I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was eight years old. Growing up in rural central Illinois, I had numerous domestic and wild animals as pets, including fish, snakes, turtles, rodents, rabbits, dogs, and cats. All of them were my loyal companions with wonderful bonds. To help me realize my goal, I volunteered at my local vet clinic when I was thirteen. From that point on, I have never stopped working with animals – the passion of my life.

Having received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with Honors at Knox College in Galesburg, IL, I attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with Honors in 2001. While I specialize in domestic pets with a focus on cats and dogs, I have also had opportunities to participate in a variety of wildlife research via different fellowships over the years. For example, in 1997, I received the Thomas J. Watson, Jr. Fellowship and conducted research on captive breeding of small felids, primates, cheetah, wild dogs, and giant pandas in 31 zoos and captive breeding centers in over 10 countries around the world.  In 1999, I was awarded the Geraldine R. Dodge Fellowship for conservation research on genetic markers in cricket frogs, a declining amphibian species.

Always impressed by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, our family moved to Redmond in December 2004. Five years later, our family got much bigger with the addition of our son Konnor who is now a growing toddler and our new born daughter Zelina. Together, we love exploring the natural beauty of this region.

Pets play an important role in our life. They are our family and best friends. Loyal Companion Animal Care opened on January 6th 2008, and our team is dedicated to improve the health and quality of life of every animal we touch.

I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you and your loyal companions in the near future and for many years to come.  Let us know how we can help you and your pets.

Best Regards,
Dr. Craig Miller
